Thanks for scrolling! This is just a bit of insight into how I go from sketch to final piece. This had about 4-5 sketch layers before I got one I liked! In between lineart and flats I usually add in some light ambient occlusion on multiply layer (still a learning process atm) and then I’ll dump flat colours under it. Shadows are usually a dark purple colour on Hard Light layer. Then I add further details with highlights on an Overlay layer although I feel like I still really struggle with “rendering” :) you can find most of my art on my socials if you want to see more. #art #originalcharacter #digitalart #oc #artprocess

From 2013 - yesterday. I didn’t really realise it but that’s kind of how long I’ve been drawing Skye for. Some of the earliest drawings I’ve ever done of her are completely inspired by my created character in a game that I love but no longer have time for (Final Fantasy XIV). I spent a long time wondering whether or not sharing her would be a little on the nose especially since I pinched her last name from my absolute favourite anime of all time. It’s Littner btw, iykyk. FFXIV requires a last name and I panicked okay? Jokes aside I can’t imagine her without that last name now, it’s just as much apart of her identity as her hair or eyes, I just don’t refer to it very often for obvious reasons. She truly has been a comfort character for me, one I can draw endlessly and never get tired of it. Maybe one day I’ll have enough time to build out her entire story and tell it to everyone. But for now, I’m just enjoying working on building her art profile more and more.
